CASE STUDY
Oxford Brookes University
OCSLD
Creative writing and thinking workshop.
Oxford Brookes had originally engaged Cosy Meerkat to do a face-to-face session at a staff away day. However, for various reasons, that had to change and we ended up discussing the opportunity to do a similar, condensed session over Google Hangouts through Coronavirus. So we did.
The session was just an hour long, delivered to 18 people in three sections: 20 minutes theory, 20 minutes practical, breaking out into meeting rooms which Cosy Meerkat then went into and supported throughout, and finally, 20 minutes of feedback and discussion.
We stripped back thinking on writing, going back to basics and looking at creative ways to engage with different audiences. The practical task was to review a piece of work from the last staff newsletter and rewrite it in a paragraph. We facilitated the discussion at the end, ensuring everyone had a chance to speak and share their thoughts and ideas. Throughout the session, chat was coming up on the Hangout with such positive engagement with what we were doing and how they would use it.
